Android 16 is just around the corner. Depending on what phone you have, the wait might be short or painfully long. Pixel users, of course, are usually the first to get Google’s newest software. But they’re no longer the only ones ahead of the curve. Several other brands are moving quickly to get Android 16 into users’ hands — some faster than you might expect.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi wasted no time and recently released the Android 16 Developer Preview. It’s currently available for two of their devices: the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro. Keep in mind, these are early developer ROMs, not meant for daily use. Still, the move puts Xiaomi ahead of most of the Android pack when it comes to OS readiness.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro is particularly interesting because it’s a late-2024 model that launched with Android 14, was updated to Android 15 quickly, and is now getting the Android 16 preview. At around £500, it’s a solid value device powered by the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. The phone features a 6.67-inch 12-bit 144Hz OLED display, triple rear cameras (50MP main, 50MP telephoto, 12MP ultra-wide), and a 5,000mAh battery with blazing-fast 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. It’s got an aluminum frame, IP68 rating, and enough horsepower to hold its own against more expensive phones.

Then there’s the Xiaomi 15, a smaller but even more capable flagship. It has a 6.36-inch 12-bit 120Hz LTPO screen, the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and an impressive triple 50MP camera setup, including a more advanced ultra-wide and a tele-macro telephoto. It also gets a larger 5,240mAh battery (thanks to silicon-carbon tech) and charges at 90W wired and 50W wirelessly. It’s a clear sign that Xiaomi is focusing hard on flagship performance and camera upgrades.

OnePlus

The OnePlus 13 is also joining the Android 16 train and recently received its second beta version. This device packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite and stands out for its size, boasting a large 6.82-inch 10-bit 120Hz LTPO display. Like the Xiaomi 15, it comes with a triple 50MP setup — but with a longer 3x periscope telephoto (73mm focal length), a 1/1.43” main sensor, and an ultra-wide. Its huge 6,000mAh battery supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, making it one of the most powerful Android options for battery life and endurance.

Nothing

The Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro launched recently but haven’t been widely available until now. They’re finally back in stock on Amazon, although there are no deals currently. Both models use the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, have 6.77-inch 10-bit 120Hz OLED displays, and come with 5,000mAh batteries supporting 50W wired charging.

Camera setups are pretty similar on both — 50MP main and 8MP ultra-wide — but the regular 3a has a 50MP 2x telephoto, while the Pro version ups the zoom to a 3x (70mm) 50MP shooter. These are mid-range phones aimed at users who want a clean, stylish design with solid performance.

Samsung

We talked last week about Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S10 FE tablets — and while those models haven’t seen price cuts yet (still £500 for the base model and £650 for the FE+), Samsung has dropped prices on their flagship tablets.

The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra now has a £200 discount. This powerhouse features a massive 14.6-inch OLED display running at 120Hz and is backed by an 11,200mAh battery with 45W charging. If you’re into media consumption, content creation, or even light desktop work, this one’s hard to beat.

The Tab S10+ is also on sale with a £150 discount. Its 12.4-inch OLED display makes it more compact than the Ultra or even the Tab S10 FE+, which has a 13.1-inch screen. What really makes both these tablets stand out is their use of the Dimensity 9300+ chip, far more powerful than the Exynos 1580 used in the FE models. Plus, both have full video output via USB-C 3.2 ports — a major win for multitaskers.
