Conservation Breeding Centre, Dawhill , Darjeeling for Herbivores and Pheasants 

Himalayan Wolf:
 
The centre was started since 1990 and since then the PNHZP, Darjeeling gave 13 individuals to different zoos Last was recorded in 2015. PNHZP, Darjeeling is is the co-ordinationg Zoo in the Conservation Breeding Programme of this species. In 2007 Himalayan Zoological Park, Sikkim , Himalayan Nature Park, Kufri and Pt. Govind Ballabh High Altitude Zoo, Nainital were declared as participating Zoo for the conservation breeding of the species.
 
The Park has 6 nos. (1 ♂ and 5 ♀) as on 31.03.2016
 
Blue Sheep:
 
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling is the participating zoo in the Conservation Breeding Programme of this species. Since 2010-15 the park has witnessed a total birth of 14 births from the two pairs of founder stock taking the captive population to a total number of 18 individuals. Presently the Park has 11 individuals (8♂ and 3 ♀) as on 31.03.2016.
 
Himalayan Tahr:
 
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling is the participating zoo in the Conservation Breeding Programme of this species. The Park has witnessed a total birth of 9 births with 68% of survivality rate of fawns from two pairs of founder stock. The Park has at present 8 individuals (4♂ and 4♀) as on 31.03.2016.
 
Satyr Tragopan:
 
In this conservation breeding programme, Sikkim Zoo is the co-ordinating and Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling is a participating Zoo for this species. Currently the Park holds no stock of Satyr Tragopan , as no breeding achieved from the founder stock and all individuals perished due to one reason one the other.

Efforts to procure individuals to initiate breeding are in process. . A short term research project entitled “Studies on biology, behaviour and aviary practices for improvement performances of captive Himalayan Pheasants” funded by the Central Zoo Authority for a period of two years.
 
Himalayan Monal:
 
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling is the participating zoo for the conservation breeding programme of this species. Currently, the Park has 4 individuals (2♂ and 2 ♀). Both the pairs are not viable for breeding. Modification of the existing pheasantries according to species suitability and weather are in considerations.
 
Grey Peacock Pheasant:
 
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling is the participating zoo for the conservation breeding programme of this species. Since initiation of this programme 18 individuals (National Stud Book WII 2010) has so far bred.
 
At present the Park has a total number of 5 (3♂ and 2 ♀).
